Default Kevlar protective trousers Aussie purchase.

Hi Folks ,

With an imminent large chainsaw purchase , I thought I'd better get some protective trousers ( not been using such with the MS170 whilst cutting
up shrubs for the bonfire .... ). Not much choice over here , but the
Husky 20T seem good-on-paper ; any users and any comments please ?

Regards,

Neil.

We have a range of them available, top end stuff though so maybe over budget for occaisional use. Noticing you are in QLD however, you might be interested in the new Gladiator COOL model, 25% lighter and much cooler than others on the market.

I've never used the Husky pants, only tried Stihl, Clogger (NZ made), Stretch-Air (top of the line from Austria) and STEIN revolution (Type C - heavy but good for winter in the mountains.)

Just make sure the pants have pockets with zips (local Stihl pants don't)

Can't say I know which ones are most resistant to chainsaw cuts as I've never had the pleasure of testing them out.

Thankyou for this information guys ! Google only throws up
Husky and Stihl , or moves to N.American sites quickly.
I'll have a read of this info . I knew it would be in the $300
something for interesting product , but 20m/s teeth speed
is a devastating device to be in the vicinity of

Cheers,

Neil

Google "tree tools nz" to find the cloggers. You can get the Arborist trousers delivered to your door for under $200

Interesting to see that some products are quite more money
in some countries ; Huskey T20 are Aus$220 here - GBP185 UK
The Austrian stuff is reasonably priced ( and freight free :=) )
from Trev.

One thing to remember with clothing, esp. pants & boots that correct fit is important. We aren't talking $50 items here. If you do buy from OS to save a few bucks you want to KNOW that you've got the right size, which will vary from maker to maker.

Knowing this, at Treegear we offer a No Fuss exchange policy on clothing, if the size aint right send it back and we'll send you the next size up/down to make sure you're happy.

Try sending a pair of pants back overseas for exchange and you'll have ended up paying shipping 3 times over. 1st to get it sent as no-one does free international shipping, 2nd to return it, 3rd to have them send it back!

I've got a pair of these pants, they are about 2.5 years old now. They are pretty good, especially in the heat where you can open the zips on the back of the knees, excellent air flow. The biggest downside is they aren't too stretchy around the important parts. I've ripped the seam along the ass once before and its starting to happen again. I'd do recommend them though and I would most definitely buy another pair, I can't find any pants with air flow like this anywhere.
