Default ISA Test

Gearing up to take my ISA test. Any good study guides out there? I have the ISA study guide, but any other reading materal that would help me be more ready would be great.

The questions come right out of the ISA study guide. It's a piece of cake to pass.

I remember a few pesticide type questions that were not in the guide.

Also, your tree ID. They must have supplied you with a list - right

It could be twigs on a table, or photos.

Where in California are you?

I'm just over the north border in Applegate Valley. Seems I get into California by a few miles every week, whether its hiking in Red Buttes Wilderness or going down through the redwoods.

So - you like horses - here's a photo I took along Crater Lake highway last week east of Shady Cove...

My co-worker just took the test and said there were about 30 questions he never saw anything about in the study guide. Like Mulching. Overall I'm not too worried.

I'm in the foothills near Fresno. But I'm taking the test in Chico, similar tree species list. Fresno isn't my first choice, but on a clear day I can see my mountains. And I get to work in my mountains every once in a while.

I just grabbed my study guide that I used 4 years ago. It has mulching in the index for several reasons.

Holly if your about to take the test then just focus on the study guide, looking at anything else will only distract you..... if you have say a few months yet then you could get a lot of use both for the test and in general from "Arboriculture: Integrated Management of Landscape Trees, Shrubs, and Vines", 4th edition. 2004. By Richard W Harris, James R. Clark, and Nelda P. Matheny. Much of the test and therefore the study guide comes from this text book..its a little outdated (or at least the edition I have is!) but its a very useful starting point.

Good luck in the test, remember if you miss one or two questions in a domain you can still get a pass, 70% is the cut off (I think).
