How did the damage to the trunk happen? The damage looks old, I would just let it live on as it is, it seems to have reasonable vigor, it looks small so its no threat to anything really.

That trees buried, you need to carefully hand excavate and find original grade and trunk flare. I think it is salvageable though, bit of TLC and soil treatments it'll be fighting fit. Find original grade, add soil amendments like Seasol (seaweed extract), liquid blood/bone (no fertilizers), mycorrhizal fungi etc. Do not wrap or paint the wound, treat by directly applying an antagonistic fungi called trichoderma. ![]() What's the deal over there with these extension agents, are they like freebie voluntary workers or something?

thanks lol Being a Master Gardener has its privelages ![]() yes, they will come out to the community and answer questions and help out. It a great program helps alot of people I am new to trees and vegetables I grow the heck out some flowers though ![]() I like hard to grow tropicals yes, i buried the tree this morning trying to see if it was rotten below. ill have to fix that It looked ok but I just hit panic mode automatically thinking some horrible fatal wilt ![]() i feel better now, thank you guys |

jay I havent pruned the maple since last year so I think its been since then because i probally would of noticed it is it me or are alot of people having bark issues right now with the maples maybe its a frost thing? Do you think so I hardly even touch the tree with scissors cause i dont want to damage it I go to town on everything I am confused about something maybe y0ou can help I have seen these purple japanese only two times I cant find them anywhere Also i read that they shouldnt be full sun mine gets atleast 7 hours during the summe I have had really good luck with it no probs till now Could it be the full sunlight for 19 year? |
