Hi, I am hoping someone can give me a rule of thumb estimate as to how much rootball should be taken when transplanting a large tree? We are looking to relocate a 8 x 10m Delonix regia and wondering if we use the SRZ calculations as per AS4970 or between the SRZ and TPZ? Greenee |

SRZ is not enough. Tree dimensions you gave is not enough information, we need pictures, DBH, etc. Some rules of thumb are 6xDBH to 8XDBH, depends on soils, depth, move how far, pre move preparation etc.

Agreed not enough information to give a definitive answer. Pre preparation work is one of he most important things to consider when doing a transplant. Id suggest that if the tree is significant to you then get in a tree transplant contractor. They will do all the work with the right equipment and give the tree the best chance of survival. Again more information is needed if you are only moving the tree several meters then the above may not apply at all. Pics and measurements are a good start for good advice. |
