I bought 20 colorado blue spruce tree seedlings back in June, I put them all in a sheltered nursery bed and watered them every day unless it rained, I then decided to dig them up and place them alongside my house, because I wanted to block my neighbours, to begin with, they were turning yellow in their nursery bed, but then when they were planted where I wanted them to be they really started to turn yellow, in attempt to save the rest of the tree, I would pull these yellow needles off, the first two pictures are of tree number one, the second two pictures are of tree number two, and the third picture is of where I have them now, which is in a pot in my basement, they were put down there, because its cold, and I was hoping that they would go dormant for the winter, I was told to leave them outside but I feel that they would do better inside, away from whatever is killing them, tree number one looks like such a stick, because of how I pulled its needles off, but the bottom of it is still very green and healthy looking, and also the new growth is drooping, im sorry for the blurry poor quality of the pictures, but even if you cant see them to well, please let me know what you think it could be, I have been asking many different people, and for three months nobody could answer my question, with them being in the pot in the basement, this is the third time that i've transplanted them now, I would love all twenty of them to live, so please let me know if you can, any answer would be very greatly appreciated. Thanks. ![]() P.s. My location is pocono summit, Pa, Us. Last edited by Theskystheway; 11th August 2008 at 03:22 PM. |

I'm assuming that after you planted them in the ground that you continued to water them daily as well,if thats the case its probaley overwatering thats causing that.

yeah methinks overwatering might be the prob too, spruce don't go completely dormant during winter so i think putting them in the basement might not be the best idea. I'd put them back outside where they can soak up some rays and get some energy to replace any roots that may have died from waterlogging.
