Hi again everyone. I was in the process of taking Eric Frei's advice to paint my exposed wood on trunk with copper based fungicide when I noticed a couple of perfectly round small holes in wood. The holes are maybe 1/32" in diameter and go into wood on an upward angle. I never noticed these before I guess something is boring into tree. There are only three holes but they are definitely from some sort of bug. Should I worry about this or just let nature take it's course? Thanks! John. Feasterville, Pa.

Are we referring to the young tree in the picture you attached? Upload a picture of these holes. There won't be much you can do anyway I don't think mate. Just let nature take it's course. It's like going to the doctors about having a minor cold. | |

Depending on how deep and straight the holes are, you can try 1. straightened paper clip to lance the bugs 2. ammonia on a Q tip to asphyxiate or draw them out 3. a lighted cigarette near the hole will usually draw out anything in the hole, too much heat If something comes out, collect it in a bottle - perhaps someone here can identify it for you.
