| Cedrus deodara (Deodar Cedar, Himalayan Cedar, or Deodar) I have a client who has one of these magnificent trees that is in a magnificent state of decline. I have never dealt with such a tree before and am researching frantically at the moment. I was wondering if anyone ells has had any experience with them? The tree is situated in northern Tasmania, there is another Deodara in the same garden that is doing fine (I think closer inspection needed) so one would think water is no too much of an issue. As far as I’m aware such trees have strong resistance do diseases and can live for up to 700> years! I have yet to return to take a look at the roots and close inspection of leaves. I would love to hear from anyone with some advice, winning lottery numbers or free Aston Martin DB4. Thanks Carlos |

"Significant decline" is rather broad. Pictures are mandatory to go any farther. Every Cedrus?deodara I've ever seen or worked on that was of any appreciable age was loosing the upper most part of its crown. When the dead top is pruned out, they look fine and continue living as a decurrent rather than an excurrent tree. |
