Hello, I have a two story ranch home in Brookfield, WI - about 20 min west of Milwaukee in SE Wisconsin. As you can imagine, we get pretty cold long winters. I am looking for advice on a type of tree I can plant for privacy as I live on a semi-busy street. The trees would be planted within the island of grass that my circular driveway naturally creates. The space that I am looking to fill with trees is roughly 58 feet long. The trees will be about 10-15 feet from the road. I was originally going to purchase 13-15 emerald green arbovitae's, but I am afraid of salt damage from the road during the winter months as well as deer munching on them. Obviously living in Wisconsin, I need a cold-tolerant tree. I would like to plant semi-mature trees right now and pay a little more than plant small trees and have to wait an extra couple of years for them to mature. The more bushy/full the tree, the better. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks! |
