There are three common finishes to Date palms around here. I refer to them as the home owners finish, the landscapers finish and the tree worker or arborists finish.

Home Owners finish.

Note the uneven surface, the pockets of saw blunting sand, the delightful array of skin piercing weapons.....

The landscapers finish.

Oo look Mummy, its a giant pineapple, can I have a bite???? If you have ever seen the Adam Sandler movie "little Nicky" and recall the fate of Adolph Hitler in hell you will understand why this look always makes me smile.

The tree workers finish.

After all the spiked hands, the mush in my shirt, the close encounters with feral nasties, the blunted chains and the burned out 66 bar...... This is my favourite pruning technique for Date palms.....

Steve ROFL - Love the picture of you with a face coated in palm gunk. Nice job. Do you like the spikes? When they stick in the end tends to snap off. If you have any keep an eye on the puncture point. Usually your body will make a small abcess around it and then it will come out (puss and all). If they are not out after a few days or you start getting an infection in the wound get yourself to a quack (or lance and clean it yourself with sterile needle)

The saw. Echo?

Now imagine what goes through your head when the customer says ... "but you missed all those flower things, they're supposed to be cut out too!"
