the tree outside my front door is growing these green and red spiky balls on its leaves, and i'm assuming once they get large enough, the tree will send them flying at me- ultimately leading to my death. Could anyone identify these? Has this ever happened before? |

No, but it will help your phobia of a tree planning to kill you.

It is a variety of gall - small insect, that feeds on the leaf inside the gall. Cut the gall open, expose the larvae, kill it and the problem is over. And if you are that phobic about the tree killing you -- you should live where there are no trees!
