NG,

Can you get some distance pics so we see the location and the tree. Also some where the trunk/ground meet.

Is there any sap weeping, little globs of sap?

Oh, in a pot.

Potting mix?

Can dry out quickly, check moisture. Sometimes when you water it runs straight through and out the pots drain holes.

Add wetting agent to the water, in absence of that, dish-washing liquid (but just a dash along with some Seasol).

Also hasn't become root bound has it?

Looks like drought stress to me, or could be over watering which can give similar symtoms??

Question Re: Help with my mom's norfolk island pine

I have the same issue with my Norfolk Island pine, which I just bought on the Coast at Wonthaggi, and it was beautiful and healthy there with pleanty of water. I've had it here in Ballarat now for a fortnight in the pot, and we are having a very harsh summer and drought here. I have watered my pine every day and put some straw in the top of the pot to try and hold in some moisture, but the needles are going brown like in the New Guy's photos. how do I know if it is damage from the drought or if it's caused by over watering? should I move My pines inside so as to protect them from the sun?
