Which Hyde Park are you referring to? London, Sydney or elsewhere

I won't guess on the plant, others will do this for you.

Oh, forgot there were several Hyde Parks. It's the one in London.

I noticed four things: buds more concentrated at the end of the twig (a characteristic of oaks), what appears to be immature acorns on the twigs in one of the photos (a definitive characteristic of oaks), leaves with teeth reminiscent of holly, and the trunk and lower branches looking like some of the evergreen oaks. Narrowing the search to those parameters and considering the location led to holly oak, Quercus ilex L., which appears to be a match.

That is a pretty neat line of reasoning - though I can't say I can see acorn like nubs in the pics. But then I have never heard of holly oak. The leaves looked sort of right for a few things, but nothing overall matched, I am glad you succeeded.
