Default Help with maple and apple.

Hello all,

I'm new to this forum and full of questions.

I have been having terrible trouble with my 20 year old very nice looking sugar maple tree. I noticed at the beginning of May that it had at first holes in the leaves but now they are wilted and brown. I also just noticed that my year old dwarf apple tree has wilted leaves much like the maple tree planted right by it. We have had alot of rain fall this last month. I don't know if that could be a factor. None of the other trees in my area are having the same problem. Another problem I am having is that some of the small roots on my apple tree are sticking out of the dirt. I have it planted in a raised box and I am not sure if this is the problem or not. I bought it in a pot at my local garden shop in late summer, but did not get it planted until the fall. I did flower in the spring and was looking very nice. I will try and post pictures of them later today or tomarrow so you can see just what I'm talking about.

Thanks in advance.

Rachel

Heres the photos. Hope you can see them well.

I said that no other trees in my area have wilted leaves. I was wrong. I walked around my block and found a couple of the maples have the same leaf wilt as mine.

Pics would help immensely. The wilted leaves may be a result of anthracnose - which on other threads has been discussed, and treatment is not usually necessary as long as the tree is fed, watered and looked after.
Planting the apple in raised bed is not usually a problem - the exposure of roots is more likely due to soil settling (or erosion) or insufficient watering.
