Question HELP! I over-watered my Hinoki False Cypress -- how can I save it?

Hello --

I live in Overland Park, Kansas, USA (Kansas City metropolitan area). Though I'm very experienced with perennials I'm a new tree-planter. I inadvertently over-watered my newly planted Hinoki False Cypress tree (have learned from my error and will never do it again). However, I'd love to save this tree because it's beautiful and was very expensive. It's been in the ground about 2-1/2 weeks. It has yellowed and browned near the trunk. Is there anything I can do?

Thanks!
Sally

Stop all watering immdiately.Pics of the tree, from more than one angle will help, espically the trunk where it was planted. Also if you can tell us what type of soil the tree was planted in.

Thanks so much for your quick reply! I haven't watered in several days including turning off lawn sprinkler system. The soil here is heavy clay with about 1 foot of topsoil. About 10 days prior to planting I had treated the soil with a product called Earth Right, which is a liquid organic polymers and co-polymers product that is both a biostimulant and clay soil buster. (That's the time lapse between application/planting recommended on the product label.) The nursery planted the tree and amended the soil; I believe they used about 1/3 cottonboll compost. MYKE mycorrhizae product was also put in the hole before the tree and soil were put in it. I took photos, but unfortunately my computer is not wanting to read this memory card and I can't find the cable to connect the camera.
