I have an Acacia baileyana that is roughly 8 years old, overly curved and not growing very well. Recently, in a large wind storm, the bark was cracked. I want to cut it down but was wondering if I would see any new sprouts at the root crown if it was cut in Spring? Any help or suggestions would be great.

Acacias don't usually sucker from the stump. I would remove it and replant.
