Hello, my name is Mark and I need some help for a tree in my front yard. First off, I don't know what kind of tree it is so I've included a picture. The tree is leaning to one side pretty bad and its half dead, is there anything I can do to save it? Thank you.

picture? what picture? I don't see a picture..... Perhaps you could try re-uploading the picture? There's a good chance that you uploaded it but didn't enter the image code for it. if you right click the upload link and click "save location" then paste it in your message and put [IMG] [/IMG] tags around that URL, your picture will come up in your post! You may want to take a few good pictures, from different directions, and show the distance to any targets the tree might be in danger of hitting if it falls. |

I also checked his post, no picture, no supressed URL word blocked either. So follow the rules and instructions, load picture to server (ensure right size first). Damaged Live Oak?

Oops! I'm sorry, I thought I attached the picture. Let me try this again and thank you for your prompt replies! Last edited by Eric Frei; 13th August 2010 at 07:03 PM. Reason: embedded pic |

Hard to identify it without some close-ups of leaves etc. Looks like a young Magnolia grandiflora, but at that resolution it could just as well be a ficus. Could we have some close-up images of the areas that are dead/dying, the base of the tree and also any blemishes or obvious pests on leaves or bark please? |

I think it is a fig and I think it is fooked. I think you might be lucky enough to find decay and even perhaps fruiting bodies around the trunk where it meets "the jungle of grass and water sprouts" then the soil eventually. ![]() Might even be planted too deep, or ring barked with the weed whacker, what about when people weed whack the trunk then figure they'll get smart and spray the area with round-up so the grass doesn't grow back .... they're my favourite. ![]() Also look at the neighbours shrubs against the wall of their house ... then look at yours. There's some plant health care not going on.
