Default Growth?

Hi, I have 4 growths on a Mayday tree and I need to know what to do about them. They were not there last spring and I just noticed them. Th tree is about 10' tall so it is pretty young and was planted 2 years ago so it is well rooted by now.

These are on some pretty big branches so if I were to cut them off, the tree would look pretty sad.

You need to figure out f it's a regular bacterial gall, insect gall or the dreaded Black Knot gall.

Here's a link to the Black Knot one .... if it's this one you need to prune it off 1' below the gall, sterlize tools every cut (1 part bleach to 9 part water).

I cut one off and then cut it apart. Looked like a normal branch but it was soft around the outside and very wet. Didn't notice any small bugs or anything either... All the gulls were soft... so I sanitized my cutter and cut them all off. The tree looks a bit funny now but hopefully it grows healthy.
