When I posted My intention to use a flying dutchman a while back I guess I sort-of expected some ??. Do I know proper terminology ?? I think I have it right... I just decided to remove a lage healthy locust maybe 75 ft. tall in close quarters with shrubbery & smaller trees all around I'd cut a small 15 degree notch carefully so it is level and true then slash some relief notches so that I'll be able to pull down and close the notch put in a knee brace and Wha'la instant boom for removal of tree as I wreck it OUT! O sorry first I need to secure the block and tackle near top of Boom... That's It will get back when I've completed this set-up. Thanks for any feed-back etc... in advance yrs truly Topmast

Your idea will probably work fairly well, as long as you don't care about the nearby shrubs, or trees, or anything else within 75 feet of the stump. Trees don't always fall where you expect them to, block and tackle or not.
