Default Ficus trees

Hi there. I have 2 ficus trees, lollipopped, in big pots and have heard some terrible stories about their roots getting into drains and upending driveways etc but I would like to put one each side of the driveway.

Are these stories true do you think? Would it be a wise or not so wise thing to do.

Yes generally these stories are based on fact, people keep them in pots and think they can contain them but i have seen 18 meter high 18 meter wide ficus trees with the pots still buried deep in the roots when we have come to cut them down the saws are blunted by them.

Even in a field the ficus tree gets lots of surface roots that annoy people, you know, mowing etc. Best in a large mulched garden etc.

It was just a figure of speech because we'd been having a fight about the poinciana trees. He's a coal mining engineer so he's not really stupid.

Sorry, I didn't mean to offend you, I just say things sometimes. I don't really mean it.
He only cares about the property but I only care about the home yard and the horses.

Well, at least you care for different things so together the lot is cared for.

I know you was only razzing it up, but you got some back. Gotta keep an eye on the cheeky ones.

Haha! you can come out from behind that couch. I've been chatting with his wife and she calls him worse than that.

Any I'm wondering why one of my grevilleas is dying. I have 6 of them at the side of the house and one is near dead and I don't know why. It's very upsetting as now there will be a gap, they're about 10ft tall and look great.

I thought to post a pic but then thought what's the good of a pic of a dead tree.

And where's my new avatar seeing as Wonderwoman is obviously not allowed. She looks better that a pic of a chainsaw or whatever and chainsaws and tractors are ok it seems.

Now this is the second time you're being told. You loaded it up as a profile picture not an avatar .... sheesh. Why is it some women have to be told more than once are they only born with 1 working ear, or is it they don't hear well due to the vocal cords never ceasing their operation.

Proably nagged that grevillea to death.

And how is a pic of a tractor or a tonka truck an avatar then. What's the difference! A proper avatar is a cartoonish type pic of yourself really, not of some object.

You're a fusspot!!! I'm going to have another coffee.

And I did not nag that grevillea to death at all. I look after my trees best I can but I'm not a big expert I don't suppose.

If you can't say something nice don't say anything at all

You need to go get laid or something.

3rd time now.

YOU LOADED THE PICTURE AS A PROFILE PICTURE NOT AN AVATAR

Now fix it up yourself and stop nagging me that there's something wrong with the picture, the software, my sex life etc.

Well it sort of is because men don't communicate properly.

I know it's not your fault really, part of your brain doesn't function as well as ours. I read all about it. That's why men can only do one thing at a time.

It's sad but we are used to it and work around it.

So you had to be told 2 times that you loaded it as a profile picture not an avatar ... then continued to do the same as you had been doing expecting a different result.

In that frustration you then drew conclusions that some how we didn't like the picture and changed the picture thinking that was part of the problem calling out "fusspot" and "Wonderwoman is obviously not allowed" and "I thought you just didn't like my pics".

At no point did you ask "where or how do I load an avatar" yet the option was just mere inches away from where you had already been going. And you think mens brains are stuffed and we cant find things in cupboards or communicate correctly.

Part of the inherent way a mans brain works is to explore and take risks, tread the new path ... had that genetic trait been given to you, you would have found the answer for yourself, you were advised the path you were taking was incorrect but stubbornly continued over and over then lashing out in frustration with the finale' of saying part of mens brains doesn't function correctly and you read all about it. Forget what you read, read what you did .... learn from that.

Now get some pics of the dead grevillea, full shot and shot where the trunk goes into the ground.

Grevillias have a proteoid root system, dont like phosphates and you can burn them with hard core ferts. Drought tolerance is good though however they can get quite woody and grow till they bust.

Sueann use microsoft paint to resize your pic or any picture croping program really if you can, then reload.
Also if you can give us a history of things that have happened around the tree in the last few months i.e. new fence installed, building work next door, lawns fertilised, new plants in the area and adverse weather in your area this would really help to identify any possible causes.
