I live in Central Illinois. I recently bought a farm and erected a metal pole barn. The problem. Some idiot put up a crappy little prefab house next to my property and I would like to plant some nice fast growing trees that would be a pleasant wind break and screen from this menace of a shack. What would be a good tree? I looked on Lombary popular but have been told they are messy nasty trees that don't live long. Any advice would be helpful. RS |

lombardy poplars live a long life. but being poplars they are prone to regular branch brake, and there fastigate shape can catch the wind if standing alone. can't really advise any trees sorry don't know the climate and what does well. just make sure your spacing is good between each tree and especially from your neaghbours shanty shack, to save hassle in the future. possibly cupressocyparis leylandii/leylands cypress. very solid screen. |
