Smile family tree

In Rotterdam me and my family have a Prunus serrulata or Japanese Cherry wich is an icon of our home. We'd like to keep it this way but have a major problem because is has a hole in the tree where water stays in and fungi and isopods are eating. The hole is located at the side of the tree and goes in quite deep. We don't know to either make a hole to drain the water or open the hole poket so we can remove all the fungi. Might there even be a better solution, please help us out and save our icon.

Thanks by the hole family Kempen

here are some pictures of our tree.
