Hi. .. so,-your asking if there is a difference between a tree snapping in half along its lenght or falling entirely, as in the root ball lifting??.. yeah- huge,, apart from the asthetic matter,, depending on species, the tree that "snaps " in a storm and looses its top can be doomed or shrug it off, ( however, it will never get back the original shape , as there will be much random growth) (( this does however open up the way for pest and disease))... a tree that goes over entirely is usually stuffed.. i have seen a few exceptions, but think of the bigger picture- even a specimen , say a willow- that will just power on, will be a poor specimen and prone to any and all problems - including further movement. Sounds like you could do with some professional hort/ arb. opinion. .. good luck
