I have a very nice, mature Silver Maple in front of my house. It a great tree that holds my daughter's swing perfectly. There are exposed roots however and I'm wondering about adding more soil to help cover them... maybe adding a small retaining wall more for appearance than anything else. My question is this will I "suffocate" the tree? A follow up question is this: The roots are pushing into an old brick walk I would like to repair... should I plan on cutting out the roots... or should I use soil to cover them and create an even base for the walk on top of that? |

Add soil between the roots to level your yard. Add sand under the bricks to level your walkway. posting pictures helps you get better info. pm me if you are near the Triangle |
