Default Double Plane Sapling

Great Forum! Newbie to trees - Sorry for new thread. All I found was This

I have discovered you like pictures - but I hope this sufices for now:
I have a freshly planted sapling of a London Plane that has turned into "twins". The story: I volunteered to give it a home and got it in a pot. It was quite crooked and about 10" tall. Meant to get it in the ground right away, but we went away and came home to a deep freeze in Ireland. Upon thaw, planted it in a perfect spot out the back and hoped for the best. The original trunk wasn't budding, but two new shoots came up out of the ground. I snipped the original trunk. What is growing now is 8" tall and identical twins. I'm not certain where they are joined under the surface. It (they) are thriving, growing straight with broad leaves and growing quickly. Of course I'd prefer that this be a single strong tree. Should I wait and see what happens for a while as it's still only tiny. Or should I snip one now to let the other grow solo? If I should snip...How and where?

Just snip of the one which seems the weakest as close to the base as possible.

Thanks dov, that's what I was guessing. The dilema is they are actually identical twins. Even the leaves are mirror images of each other in every way. It's like one tree and a reflection in a mirror! Eeny meeny miney....Snip.
