Canary Date Palm Ganoderma

My yard service, Scott's, said my canary date palm in Tampa, FL has ganoderma and will die. I don't see any conks and the tree seems healthy. My concern is that the base of the trunk is splitting outward, exposing the small roots. I've been told that this is due to too much water but the tree is on a mound and I don't think it is getting too much water. Please view the attached photos and let me know what you think about the health of this tree. And how do I know if it has ganoderma? Thanks!

Take some samples and send them to a lab...first call your local extension and find out what and how the samples should be taken for this fungi. It will only cost you $20.00, and you will know for sure!

Looks like sooty mould to me, if you can get tests done do so.
