hi there, i'm quite intrerested in Wildlife and Trees out here in Australia so i thought i'd come here for some advice. this is my first post but can anyone help identify this tree and fruit if it is a fruit. it fell from our tree into the pool in Brisbane, Queensland. It's a very tall tree, 30 metres plus, and the branches are very straight a couple of metres long and the branches don't start till 3/4 of the way to the top of the tree. It is kind of pine like. |

Could be a norfolk pine or cook pine cone (immature). They can get as large as a cricket ball.

That's a hoop pine, common too. Cones are similar when small.
