We moved into a new house in March and recently (end of August), the two huge Sequoias on the property have started to have brown needles mainly on the underside of the branches and shed. A couple weeks ago, we had to roto-rooter our sewage line due to roots disrupting the pipe and I am afraid that we may have damaged our beautiful trees. However, since we are not familiar with the life cycle of these trees, we are not sure whether this is a possible diagnosis. Any advice is much appreciated. We would do anything to save these majestic trees!

Sequoias shed some needle always this time of year. With the weather and toe construction yours maybe under some additional stress. If you fill the needle shep is excessive or it it is towards the tips of the branches you should have an arborist out to take a look. I sugest callling a consulting arborist who does not do tree work only cnsults in order to a thruogh and hosest opinion on the health of your trees. An arborist in your area should be able to come out and give you a verblle consult for $100-150.
