Hi All, I don't know about trees much and I have several palm trees in my garden. They were there before we moved into this house 3 years ago. During the christmas holiday, I just found that the palm tree leaves become browned and looked like they are dying. Also I found many big black ants are living on the leaves while they gathered inside the palm tree leaves making hose-shaped(see third picture). I was not sure if the ants did somehing on the palm trees or not. I have cut all the browned stems off and want to rescue them from dying. Please have a look at the pics below and kindly advice me. My friend suggested me to use some osmocote(sp? one of the fatilisers in supermarkets) to fatilise them as she believed the ants are not harmful for palm trees. Would this be right? I bought the fatiliser but haven't applied it yet. Please let me know the best thing I should do for the palm trees. Thank you heaps, Elaine |

Clip of the dead leaves and water the palms more frequently. We do not know the soil conditions nor reflective heat, could be on sand, could be a tin shed not far etc.
