Default Thanks!

Hi all Readers and Site Administrator,

This looks a good site with worldwide contacts.

Of course, like many others, I have a question, hoping someone can tell me if I need to do some more research or take action.

I few years ago we had a few holes appear in a couple of Japanese Maples, so I ignored them..a few borers, natural, right?

Well, maybe now that another maple..it was least 5 metres tall, has died and another 2 have borers..one badly, plus having to cut down a large Hakea tree last year..it is time to take action.
Several trees have signs of being ill, including a huge lemon Myrtle ..and the tall cypress/thuja type tree next door is dying slowly and shedding dead sections, although it too has hundreds of holes might this be a different pest?

We have another tall tree, looks like greyvillea family orange/yellow flowers: they drip sticky car-paint eating nectar, loved by flying foxes..is infected by something as sticks and fairly large bits fall off in the wind. I think it is also called silver or silky oak.

Do I take action or call for help? Is t too late? I'd hate to see every tree in the neighbourhood wiped out by borers.

I don't think the eucalyptus..Angophoras in our street, are affected. Some trees have had black ants in the middle of the branches when cut back, and the garage across the road is a very weak structure dues to past termite activity.

Have I seen the hole-making culprits? Yes, large longicorn beetles, saw a few once and down the track the holes appeared.

I can take photos of trees and holes if necessary, but as to loading them on the site..will need help..where is the nearest child?

Thanks, in anticipation of at least one good response!

Louise
