Default borer damage of walnut tree

A walnut tree of more than 60 years old is suffering from heavy borer attack. Please inform about the remedial measures. Enclosed are the photos of the holes the grubs have made.

Seems it is only the deadwood (heartwood) that is copping it.

You can poke a wire down holes and maybe kill the buggers.

Spray eucalyptus oil frequently on exposed heartwood areas to deter the buggers.

how about injecting petrol and K oil mix or an insecticide into the holes and pluging with wet kneeded clay.

Stop watching MacGyver.

Borers are the larvae of many insects from flies, moths beetles etc. The idea is to make the area they land and hatch at unpleasant so they bugger off.

You could use any product I suppose, like even Mortein surface spray, but petrol etc I'd stay away from.

Also do not forget that the edges of that wound have living wood so you do not want to apply anything too toxic or that will inhibit wood growing over that wound.
