A bore is killing my tree

There appears to be a bore attached to the limbs of my tree. Can anyone identify this pest and advise if there is a way to get rid of it ?

Looks like case moth cocoons.

Must be a boom time, conditions right.

Have a read of this about a specific case moth, fascinating. They live in that woody cocoon for 1 to 2 years dragging it around with them, adding to it like a woman in a jewellery store.
