I have one small olive tree....almost all the leaves had fallen down...something is wrong. I have been spraying them with volk oil insect killer....at least it did not deteriorate...steady but no improvement. I am thinking to feed the tree with a plant food...any advise? I live in Houston, Texas |

Sorry about that Gate 13, I couldn't resist! Olive trees are a massive problem weed here. I'm forever pulling small olive trees out of my own garden. Almost every customer's yard I go into has olives growing in it. I did some work removing feral olives from the banks along a river for a council here a few years ago. A contractor had previously taken the trees out & made the mistake of poisoning the stumps! Well, the result was like the day of the triffids There was a forest of the things where once there had been just a few. I was under strict instructions not to poison the stumps after I took the olive suckers out. Surprisingly, it worked! No epicormic re-growth! The bastards are gone!

I know you're looking for general advice Gate13, but Eric is right - you want some advice to solve a problem, and no one can have a clue about what that problem could be without some pics to show the tree, its surroundings, its growth habit etc. I could probably pick some winning lottery numbers more easily.

I tried so many times to post a pic, but really the requirements of the size of the pictures for this site is ridiculous!!!! If I limit the picture to the size required by the web site, you will see only one small leave of the olive tree in the picture.... so what if the administrator finds a better way regarding the pictures size requirements? ...... |

![]() A .jpg picture can go up to 1025px wide and 1201px high and 312kb file size. That's huge. Here have a look at this 1000px wide picture and only 162kb file size of a Queen fish caught at 2pm last Friday (11 Feb 2011) on the board-walk at Caloundra, was 6.5kg .... you can see more than a fish scale cant you? ![]()

| 1. The name of the fish was provided, reading is one thing but comprehending is another. ![]() Evidence:- 2. The picture was not cropped, the author was demonstrating that resizing and cropping are two different things, refer to 1 above. ![]() 3. Here's the link once again that was provided in both an email and Private Message (PM) when joining. How to post| add a picture or file| embed picture Clearly once again ![]() 4. Here's a resized pic of the golden trevally I caught, about 2kg and 41cm long. This pic is out of the phone, it shoots 1600px x 1200px so too large to load straight up here. ![]() Caught it on the Saturday, around 4pm, outgoing tide, drifting the banks, about 1.5km upstream from the board-walk on live yabbies.

This picture was shot at 4320px x 3240px (14MP and 5.4mb) but I have resized it to 621px x 426px (62kb) ![]() But the same picture I also cropped here, cropped around that cap which worked out to be 621px x 426px (62Kb), no alterations to original picture, no sharpening or adjustments just fresh out of the camera. Of course the picture was taken in macro mode with the lens about 2cm off the subject, you can see on my thumb in the first picture the shadow from the camera body itself .... camera held in one hand while the other held the cap. Camera is a Panasonic FZ100. ![]() Hopefully now you understand the relationship between resizing and cropping plus file sizes.

Speaking of fish, I like this stuff. If you think posting pictures here is hard try the F******* forum. ![]() I haven't posted one for a while, so I'm just testing to see if I still know how. ![]() |
