I have a baobab tree growing about 8 - 10 feet away from my pool. A man that works in my neighbors yard who seems to really know what he is talking about said the tree is likely to break through the cement and destroy my pool. He said it is very high priority to cut it down. I've read that that this tree is endangered, so I'm really not fond of cutting it down. Also, is it actually possible for it do destroy my pool? Thank you for any help.

Why would tree roots try to break thru a concrete wall just to see if there is water on the other side? Common sense tells us tree roots are practical and seek out available and known water in the soil, they don't expend energy on a maybe dream. They can teach us people some good things, wouldn't you say? I don't know what areas of expertise your neighbour's handiman has, but trees and tree roots isn't it.
