Default 'Bald' Cherry blossom - Ireland

I have a cherry blossom in Ireland that seems to have grown very big, (the trunk has a few splits in it ) , there are very few leaves on it and 50% of them are dead. There are loads of various other trees in the garden that are 100% ( bar a smaller tree beside the CB that is 'baldish' as well, but no dead leaves ).Anybody got leads that I can follow up ( pics and cures )?

Tree doesn't look to have much future. I would be inclined to cut it down, and try another tree. Pics of the base of the tree, and where it is growing might help.
