Default Autumn purple Ash tree larvae.

Hi all,
I am hoping someone can help me in identifying this larvae I found living in a branch of my Ash Tree. This past year the leaves were covered in yellow galls and most of the leaves died. I also noticed a hole that was bored into the bark of the tree near the bottom but now this was found at the top. The tree is young (10 years at the most). Any help would be greatly appreciated. BTW I live in Central New Jersey.

Thank you
Lee

I found this pic, your borer doesn't look like a match for emerald ash borer (EAB)

Also EAB has not been found in NJ

Galls are cause by many insects, you need to find out which one. I think we covered that here already.

Is this going to kill my Autumn Purple Ash Tree?

Also need to boost tree TLC.

It is very important to be aware of EAB if you have an ash tree (in the USA) that you care about because an untreated tree will die.
Good luck and best wishes.
