A neighbor gave me this tree. She has no idea what it is. I tried using the online tree identification using a leaf but it could not identify the tree. Any ideas?

Does your 2nd pic show leaves are alternately arranged or opposite arrangement on the stem?

Looks like a Tapioca Tree or Manihot species. Possibly Manihot dulcis? Cool lookin' plant! Bit of a kink in the trunk there..
