Question Almond Trees In Spain

I have an Almond Tree in my garden in Spain that I think is a bit poorly. It has been hammered over the last year or so by some building work. I have noticed recently that it seems to be leaking sap (or something) and that all the local flies (ie, bluebottles) are very attracted to it, not just the bark but the leaves too........is there anything I can do?

Without pics it's tough but my hunch is the tree might be getting hammered by bugs and borers and the flies are attracted to the sap or laying eggs, even lay eggs into host bugs.

First off, you need to decompact around the tree, get some liquid organic material happening, maybe some mulch.

I'm not sure how big the tree is etc but you need to treat them bugs, over here I'd either spray, inject or drench with Confidor, rogor or carbyrl.

Funny, just today I went and had a look at a bunch of citrus trees doing similar.

pictures please, general rule of the thumb is if the tree is produceing sap, kino, resin, depending on the species,it's dealing with the drama at hand, try and make an exclusion zone around your tree so it cops no further abuse, decompact the soil around the tree, with your building is brickies slurry run of near or on the area around the trunk?..what type of damage has the trunk substianed mechanical?bark riped off in places?borers?..more info please.

I will try and get some pictures but I am not in Spain again until August. The tree has had several branches ripped off (by builders and severe gales). The building work has now finished so not sure what other damage they did or what crap they ditched near the tree.

I do know that these trees are supposed to be pruned in October time and that this has not happened over the last couple of years.

Thanks for you help so far.

Did the branches get torn-off on the sunset side?
