Default 30 year old sick apple tree

Hello Ekka

Thanks for your greeting email. Real serious reason for joining...I have an old apple tree that seems to be threatening to die on me. It is over 30 years old at least and this year we have lost a full branch of the tree (no leaves, no life)with cracks appearing on the bark in other parts of the tree. The apples were very small last year and spongy dry to the point of being inedible...y suggestions very welcome

We need some [ictures, overall shot and shot of the trunk where it meets the ground.

Could have some fungal disease, could be at the base so affects the whole tree.

Is there any discoloured parts or oozing of sap etc?

Might be cedar apple rust. Need pics of infected branch wood and pics of other branches and trunk.
