Thought I would post this in case there was any confusion over the current status of Woodsman in Australia.

I've got their small build 12" model. I love this machine. In the past I have used a Bandit 250 regularly, although that model can take bigger wood, the Woodsman's infeed system puts the Bandit's to shame. The Bandit would require regular cutting of crotches for the branch to feed. The Woodsman sucks and crushes the crotches in like nothing. It's very simple, and easy to operate. Mines lightweight at only 4500lbs, makes moving it around with a mini skidsteer a breeze, I put the chipper anywhere I want it. It's powdercoat finish is holding up great. It's powered by a John Deere engine, although you can get others-John Deere has great customer service.

Can't say enough good things about mine.

Bugger me!

That's a deal and a steal, $24K for such a nice unit.

KISS principal in chippers is great, that looks like a logical hard working design.

Amazing - when Ekka posted this - the Aussie was near parity with the US$ - in less than 2 months the Aussie is at its lowest in a year...

Hi Red Roo, I just spent a week in the company of Bob from Woodsman, I think he enjoyed our British hospitality...

83.77 today, still not too bad.

Remember when it was 0.48 just before 2000 Olympics.

Read this, how wrong so called experts can be!

I think the Americans have learned a lot from trusting banks and corporations.

Westpac has announced that Australian dollar shall reach its peak early next year. It has become the first bank to announce that the exchange rate for the Australian dollar vs. the US dollar shall reach 1.01 by early 2009.
Just as well I didn't listen to them and bought all my chainsaws at the peak a couple months ago ... but I'm just a dumb tree man.

Default A$ Plunge

With a decline of over 30% in the Aussie vs the Greenback in the last 13 weeks, get set for price increases....

I have a 2006 Woodsman 15X with a 140hp John Deere and a winch. We love this machine. You can't beat the Woodsman infeed system. The machine has 2 hydraulic rotors on the single infeed wheel and it is extremely strong. We very rarely have to make relief cuts to get trees though machine. This machines love to eat and eat. The down pressure helps push everything through. This 15 inch machine is more like a small 18 inch machine. I have alot of experience with Bandit, Vermeer, and Morbark and they have nice machines that chip well but Woodsman products blow them away.... We have just hit the 1600 hour mark and have had no big issues with this machine. We have had to reweld a few spots but not a big deal. The only problem we have is that our fuel tank has a hairline stress crack where the baffle is positioned in the tank. The tank sweats out fuel and only is noticed when the machine gets dirty. We have not yet replaced the tank because of the $1000.00+ price tag---ouch So, if your in the market for a new machine I suggest to demo a Woodsman....

Hi MurphyBrothers,

A belated welcome to Treeworld!

On some tanks early on, Woodsman did have an issue with the baffle as you describe.

This has since been rectified and the tanks are now individual and bolted together.

How many hours on your 15X now?

Hey Red Roo,
Our 15x has 2100 hours on it now and is still in great shape and working hard everyday. Our fuel and hydraulic tanks are the bolted together type. We are about to order the new tanks so that we do not have a big problem on our hands if we had a failure doubtful but nevertheless, the leaks attract dust and they look crappy. We love our Woodsmans and would not use any other machine at this time... Thanks for the reply, Linus Murphy

Hello Cara,

Yes, I have talked to you guys several times about the Serco 4500 but that purchase has been put on hold for the time being. We are in the process of purchasing a new crane and can't afford both machines this year but please keep me on your inventory email list. Thanks Linus
