Default Where to get an engine for a Stump Grinder

I was wondering if anyone can throw a few brand names and experiences at me for replaceing an engine on a small stump grinder. Currently i have a 9hp four stoke Honda. I was just sort of throwing it out there to see if there are any other good engines. Ideally a NSW or Australian supplier would be good.

Thanks guys and gals

What grinder is it?

I got a Chinese 13hp Honda copy for one I had, about $350 a couple of years ago. It went ok.

Duh.. I should have put that in. Its an old Rayco. Possibly a RG13 as its quote small. It came to me second hand in less than ordinary condition.

Replace it with another Honda, they're bullet proof.

You're not wrong there. Fired one up for a job on Monday, 13hp. Hadn't started it in 3 years. Choke, petrol on, started first pull.

So did the copy one from new but I don't think they'll last as long. For the price if you don't use it much, not bad.

One thing, the one I got was short shaft so I had to move the mount holes. I don't think you could do that with a Rayco so keep that in mind, there's always a catch.

I agree,
I have a husky sg13, very similar to the rayco. Has a 13hp Honda on it, excellent power and super reliable, small and compact aswell.

Some engines for consideration...

Honda GX390 - OHV

Robin EH41 - 13.5hp OHC

Briggs & Stratton 14hp/16hp V-Twin Vanguard

Probably the pick of the bunch here in Australia in terms of reliability, service, support and affordability.
