Default What's our Wood Chipper worth???

Good day to all !!! I must say I recently joined the forum here not realizing that you are in Australia. We are in the U.S. I thought I'd stay anyway and learn about forestry equipment. You seem to have some knowledgeable members.
I do have a one question.....My leasing company recently acquired a Bandit Wood Chipper. We have never had one and don't know much about them. It is a 2004 Model 1890 Intimidator. It has 239 hours on it. Cummings diesel. Can anyone give us an idea what it is worth? Thanks in advance.

You seem to have listed the basic data. And actually, TW is an international forum. There are members here from all over the world, and a great many from the USA as well.

I'm not certain that they can give you an accurate quote, is there not some kind of "bluebook" value on chippers? Other than the data you've already supplied, you might post up some pictures to show its general condition, as well as a general understanding of what condition the engine is in. What size wood intake is it?

Thanks for the thoughts. It takes up to 18" according to the Factory Website based on the Model Number.

It would probably be worth about $50k or more in Australia, but I would think much less in the US.
One of my subbies just bought a new one here for $135k.

Thanks for the info. We can't find a similiar one for sale over here to compare prices. Of course in Nevada we don't have much need for a chipper as we are in the middle of a desert. Maybe we will sell it and ship it to Australia! Thanks again for your input.

That's one heck of a big chipper. I dunno why you would want to chip up firewood size or lumber size logs. That's just chipping up money with bigger money. Hard to get a gauge of the price of used equipment that size. There are heavy equipment companies in the US that have Blue Book listings for logging and arbor equipment, but they require a subscription. I have been trying to get a feel for the prices of smaller Bandit models here in the PNW, but it is hard to do. Sales are few, and used stuff does not come up for sale very often. I have flipped several Bandit and smaller BearCat chippers, and done very well on them. But its all about finding used stuff at a good price, and finding the right buyers at the right time. I have had to sit on some equipment trying to sell it for over a year. Shipping to Oz can be spendy, but there is demand there and some people want equipment shipped there that I can get here that is not available down under.

I second that, maybe with such low hours and a decent warranty you'd get $65K here. But in the USA things are a lot cheaper.

Ahhh.... A while ago I subscribed to email notification from a place in southern california.. I'll send you a link to their site. They occasionally send me emails about equipment for sale, and their site usually has a pretty good selection of equipment that you can judge pricing ranges from.

The approximated retail value depending on the Hours & condition of your chipper, should be around 29,000 - 35,000 USD, I seen a 2001 go for 26,900 a few months ago

I hope this helps you
