Hi Guys new to the site! I was looking for a cheap 6 inch chipper. I mainly do small pruning work, and the odd removal. If anyone knows of anything please let me know, cheers

After something secondhand, cash is a bit of a struggle.

Decent 6" is still going for around 15-20k, can even try the auctions. Take a look at the sites for the manufacturers as they generally have some used equipment up for sale as well.

There ok but not a patch on a decent bandit 6"-9" Can be cheaper to just buy an older 12" it's more practical in the long run.

Only running a 3 litre diesel may be a little hard on it. I like the idea of 1200kg, I currently pull a chipstar mx 180 and at 1.5t it is getting a little heavy.

An austchip 150 is alot larger than a bandit 6 inch, it will pull much larger branches in ecpecialy if its got lift n crush. just watch the drawbar on the austchip they have alot of weight on them and i know many have snapped, just get under her and have a look. bandit 9 inch is a good machine.

I didn't realise it was that heavy it stated that it was 1200kg on the ad, cheeky! I only have an '04 hilux with chipper bin, not really into big removals rather look after trees hence the need for smaller gear. Any ideas what you thin this would go for? Would love a bigger one but there are a couple of considerations, 1, The type of work I undertake 2, Weight of the machine so I don't kill my car 3, Financial restraints. I currently use a 7 inch chipstar and reckon that is awesome but it just a tiny bit heavy when I load up my bus. I also like the ability of being able to maneuver smaller machines into tight spots. I would eventually like to have a truck and bigger machine but baby steps to start is probably a good way to go. |

Sorry. Typical of Vermeer here, they're pretty slack. Secondhand 6" chippers are very rare. People just seem to hang onto them. |

you will only save a few hundred kg by going smaller, and it may not tow much better. but im sure you know what you need better than i do

I put that toolbox on the mudguard & made up the bracket for that jerrycan holder. I'll be buggered ![]() It looks a wreck now, was mint when i sold it. Always under a carport or garaged, not weathered at all. It had a good 1st 5 years of it's life, dunno what happened to it since..... We did a lot of work with that machine, including big removals - just make lots of firewood! Still quite a capable machine if you decide to upgrade to a small 2-3 tonner truck. I ran it behind a Toyota Dyna 300. | |

The bandit was either 980 or 1100kg, cant remember, but i used to unhook it and push it on my own back into the carport. And we'd often push it into back yards and chip into a pile if they wanna keep the mulch.

If you buy a Bandit 65 with the Deutz Diesel make sure you change the timing belt. Most purchasers dont realise until too late and find the engine runs out of compression due to valves hitting pistons. Very expensive.

| Could still be worth a look... Find out how many hrs on it now. Had about 980 when I sold it. The guy who bought it off me was a funny Vietnamese dude. But get this for further coincidence... Driving down the road today I see HIM! Towing a newer Vermeer bc1000! Haven't spotted him for a good couple of years now. |

Have been told that it is a '96 model. The hour clock is stuffed showing 350 hours, seems like someone has been playing with it. I would obviously have to spend a bit of cash on it to make it presentable.

Thats soo ugly but looks better than a whole lot of other 6" around. Is that price tag AUD? And a general question, how long does it generally take to receive a new chipper from the moment you order it?

| Delivery usually depends on what is in stock in Australia and what is in stock in the states. Prices are AUD.

Shame it wasnt in the last Arbor Age with the comparisons of the 6" chippers as it does look much longer than most.
