Just buy a 6x4 and make up a pin/holder.

Thats too complicated, I need a purpose built trailer or at least one with proper fold down ramps. Our current 6x4 + wooden planks is horrible. Need something easy to go to the boss with. Can you say, replace the tailgate with a ramp since thats on hinges?

Yep, get them tailor made if you like ... no brainer really.

For those who dont know unloading stump humpers is frought with risk, most have tipped them over. Engines sit high on a narrow wheel base and you have left and right stick for driving.

Best way is just to build a gate, I will post a pic in a few days of mine that I built myself. Works great and can drive anything on it.

4 x 6 STEEL TRAILER WITH RAMP - eBay, Trailers, Trailers, Cars, Bikes, Boats. (end time 21-Sep-09 20:04:00 AEST)
Lol, did you pick that up trev?

We have a stump humper at work an a purpose built trailer... Will have to take a photo. Has its own little gate at the front on the side, folds down back it up onto the pin...

Now loading that thing onto the back of our utes is a dangerous operation! Many MANY struggle. Some can't line it up and control the leavers together, some can't adjust the power and speed enough to get it up with ease, some can't walk up the ramps behind it, some stand in the middle of the ramps get it half way then jump up top, some bloody use the leavers independently and throw it off the side... The best one that I love and cracks me up every time even now thinking of it, is when it tips over and the stupid persons grip is that tight that it tips them over too! hahahaha

They're a POS grinding on the side of a hill though, not sure bout all yours but ours gets creep in the wheels, and if you try grinding sideways, the mofo is top heavy... *shudders* Stump humper.. Our worst machine we own.

No, no John, i didn't buy the trailer. I were searching for machinery ramps and it came up, i thought of apocalypse when i saw it.
Already have a custom trailer that carries the humper & RG1625a side by side with quick mounts, just put pin in & go. Also just "happens" to fit a rally car perfectly!

I'm after some good solid alloy loading ramps, good for about 1.5T, 2.4m long.
Everything is either flimsy crap or overkill 3T, 3m.

The RedRoo SHP400 looks a far better design with lower centre of gravity & better balance.

I've only rolled it once, while doing a stump. The guys have tipped it 10 times i reckon. ALWAYS check the swivel lock pin is in before going up ramps, gutters or generally transporting the machine. I think this is often the cause. Also check pin is engaged fully, the hole often fills with crud while grinding so the pin doesnt really engage then pops out under load & heideleho over she goes!

Aluminium Ramps — Earthmoving Equipment Ramps, Heavy Duty Truck Ramps by Digga Ezi-Loada

We use those ramps, we have the 1.8T ones for the stump humper and a 3.2T set for the rare occasion of heavier items going up elsewhere.

Trailers are a funny thing on ebay, very inconsistant prices.

Every now & then one goes of cheap, but a lot of em are ridiculous, nearly pulling new prices for rusty old crap????
