That's a weird one! Alot of machinery to remove a stump....then you have to fill the hole in!

the first one.. the core boring one.... seemed like VERY little mess. then fill hole and your off... i do agree w/ shaggs.. it IS a lot a machinery for a stump removal.

if youve got a big enough pto to handle a screw that would do any of the stumps you may create. but if you get a screw that can only handle certain diameter stump it looks as if it may be a problem. with a conventional grinder one can use the smallest models to remove the largest trees... it just takes while.

Well, I got in touch with the guy.

His name is Ferri Elvo from Italy, said his english isn't very good but gave me a list of websites of which I done my best to pick out a few that might be focused on what and where to get them etc (weren't in english).

First one seems like specification style document.

[I like the one that shaves the stump it looks like it can be done safely right next to moving traffic, cant do that with a conventional one, except without pain in the bum barriers, that are either to heavy or to weak (any one got a solution ?) If in a urban situation you'd have to get rid of the shavings, cant say there good for the garden like conventinal stumper chips LOL

What about in pine plantation forests? Removing those stumps, sure seems fast and little mess.

I'm sure they have stump grinders there too but for some reason they use this thing. We must be missing something?

We used this machine on a big job I was on at beginning of the year. Takes anything upto 600mm, does full width of tractor. Extremely fast. Used mainly for large forest clearing etc

Email from Ferri

Quote:
The principal market is poplar plantation. But many Rotor works along the street and in urban forest.
The first Rotor born and patend in 1960.
Visit this web site because is interesting study for recycling the stumps.

http://www.metla.fi/silvafennica/full/sf39/sf394539.pdf

Yes,we have a stump grinder, but non competitive with Rotor.
Vermeer or Rayco used only for park and garden but not in plantation.
In plantation customer used Rotor and big plow with 80 centimeter depth,or Rotor and mulcher with fix teeth like FAE or Seppi M.
The destumper production in poplar plantation (stump diameter 40-60 centimeter and 1 meter depth) is about 600-800 stump a day,8 hour, with 150-200 HP.

Guys, the stumps are harvested, the wood is dense and stronger than normal so what was waste or left in the ground is now a resource and makes profit.

loos like a lot of work to remove stumps.i don't usually remove stumps because it costs 152 dollars a day for me to rent a stump grinder so I shy away from doing it because when you figure in gas from the job to the rental place and back to the job and gas for the stump grinder I can't charge any less than 200 bucks.
