Default Red Roo SHP400......knowledge Of?

GEDAY TO EVERYONE,

I'm new to the site and have found it pretty good stuff.

Love the jokes...will drop the odd one in.

Anyway.......to business...........

Looking for a new Stump Grinder in AUST.

The above seems the goods to me, particularly the centre swivel on the cutter deck.

Has anyone got one or had experience with the SHP400?

Has anyone had experience with Red Roo Stump Grinders?

At around Au$15,000 plus GST they are pricey, anyone got any suggestions as to better value machines?

Would appreciate any assistance in this matter.

regards to all,

Bill24.

Thanks A_LOPA for your reply.

At this stage looking into machines, prices and the type best suited for my interests.

Won't be buying for a while yet.

If you have the time I would be interested as to what type of machine you think is best for general stump grinding,an all round machine I suppose.

Two wheel single axle or 4 wheel heavier machine?

(ps....Not thinking of doing anything near Drouin so will not be competing with your good self.)

Question Re: Red Roo Shp400......knowledge Of?

Took me awhile to work out how to post EKKA!

Think I've got it now.

Learning a lot from this great forum, blokes with plenty of nous.(nouse?)

All comments are greatfully received and I appreciate your advice.

I know this isn't the joke thread but though you might like this one.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

title...............STOP CHOKING - AUSSIE STYLE

scenario........BLUEY AND BAZZA HAVING A NIGHT IN THE BIG SMOKE

A woman sitting in an Adelaide Pub suddenly began to cough.

After a few seconds it became apparent that she was in real distress,

the two bushies, Bluey and Bazza sitting at the next table turned to
look at her.

Ken ya swaller? asked Bluey

The woman signalled 'No!', desperately shaking her head.

Kin ya breathe?" asked Bazza. The woman shook her head No!!!

With that, Bluey walked behind her, lifted up the back of her dress,

yanked down her knickers and ran his tongue up and down the crack of

her butt.

This shocked the woman into such a violent spasm that the obstruction
flew out of her mouth and she began to breathe again.

Bluey swaggered back to his table and took a deep swig of his beer.

Bazza said in admiration "Ya know Bluey, I'd heard of that bloody

Hind Lick Manoeuvre, but that's the first time I ever seen

somebody do it."

A Tony Palmer original, I thought you sold that on Ebay. This time last year I would have bought it, but things are dead here. Too many xxx's with Stump Humpers and little white utes, not much stump work now except my own jobs. I sold 2 Dosko's last year, 20 & 13hp, never liked them but I changed the wheels and could get in just about anywhere. Maybe things will change in March/April, they are usually good months.

G'day Bill,
I bought a 16hp standard type stumper off REDROO about 10? years ago. Have had no probs whatsoever and she gets a GOOD workout. imple and easy to service. They tend to rebrand other machines (Carlton, Woodsman, Stumpmaster etc) thus parts are easy to come by.
This machine does me as a small/light machine and a larger remote Carton for the rest.
If I was to buy one machine, it would definately be a swiver head type self propelled machine. They do it all, big and small.
Cheers

SHAGGS,

Thanks for your opinions. I tend to agree and although just in planning stages can see that high standards are the norm in the majority of this forums members.
It can only be good for the industry.
The larger four wheel - hydraulic swivel head - machines would be more versatile and although dearer, much easier on the operator.

Its been a while since I posted and have been busy looking at Grinders, of the self propelled, 4 wheel variety.
Like the look of the Bandit 29 HP Diesel (Lombardini)...........the motor gets a bit of bad press, but seems good machine otherwise, although over a grand for the cutter wheel bearings (around $550 each) seems a bit over the top.
The Red roo 35HP petrol (Vanguard) looks pretty good, similiar to the bandit diesel. Wonder if anyone has experience with this, or either outfit, that they would be good enough to share. I prefer diesels but the 33hp Kubota Red Roo seems to be about $5K extra. Might have a better resale perhaps if you upgraded to larger machine down the track.

Open to any info. on any good used machines, but need to be in first rate order to avoid down time.

Regards to all, bill24.

A diesel is the way to go.
We run the 33hp SP 4012 Kubota from Redroo it's been a Great machine.
And get the extra dual wheels.

Thanks A.M.

Yr comments are really appreciated when this much hard earned is going to be spent!

Have you had the machine long, hours?

Breakdowns/parts supply?

What cutters are you running, did you stick with their rotatable ones?

They have a SP7015, 48HP Duetz diesel at around $48K, would you reckon that would be better value for you, suit yr. jobs, if you bought now?

Sorry to ask all this stuff, but its pretty good to be able to ask an experienced owner. Thanks & regards

Bill.

GEDAY NEWGUY18,

I reckon I'm better off buying it factory fitted if I go diesel.

They have a 33hp Kubota but I'm still trying to work out the pros and cons of the 35HP petrol Vanguard, on trade the diesel will be much better, will think about it for a while yet.

Thanks for your imput, appreciate it.

regards

Ace Master - Both the Kubota and Vanguard powered SP4012's feature the dual wheel set up as standard. One bolt to remove each wheel and you are back to 35" wide for narrow access. The kit is optional for the 27hp Kohler powered unit.

Bill.
bill24 - The SP7015's that have been imported into Australia by Red Roo have all been equipped with the 60hp Deutz and wireless / tethered remote as standard. To my knowledge, I am unaware of any 48hp units in the country.

Looks great, 740mm wide access is cool for most gates.

25Hp Kohler, nice.

My only suggested improvement would be a centrifugal pre-cleaner instead of the hat. They're cheap and from experience help a lot.

In the Donaldson can are you running the filter plus the inner indicator or just the filter?

I have a 24hp Honda and if you run the inner it runs too rich, never had that problem with the Kohler's though.

Thanks for the feedback Ekka!

The engine spec is assembled for us ex factory and the Australian Kohler agent. The Donaldson type system is utilising both an inner and outer element.

Earlier units have used a bowl type precleaner, we discontinued using these on all units when the bases were changed from metal to plastic - the plastic fins began to fail. The unit has been approved and certified to run with the rain cap only. We use the same set up on our 16hp V-twin's as well.

On some of our smaller engine applications, eg our RH2000 rotary hoes, we fitted a Donaldson filter to 7.5hp/8.5hp engines with the addition of a restrictor in the intake under the raincap / precleaner. Worked well.

Yeah, they do break. Also the darned thumb screw rattles loose so I use thread tape so it's tighter.

For the fins breaking problem, I use a hose clamp, I'll get a picture. I used to run the hat but this precleaner is worth it's weight in Gold, dusty here. There's times I have lost sight of the end of the machine due to dust.

Yeah, we got it here, but this is just a little 1/4" screw, and I got plenty of plumbers tape.

I should have been a bit clearer in my previous post - the perils of posting late in a full day!

To be clear, I was referring to the fins on base of the Donaldson pre cleaner bowl mount, where the air enters into the bowl. The metal ones - never a problem - the plastic ones would sometimes break off and the base would collapse. We used these extensively on our 16hp V-twin Vanguard powered SG350 grinders before switching to the Donaldson rain cap currently in use.

We are about to trial the following unit:

Air Precleaner and more - Sy-Klone International, Ltd.

Looks like a good piece of gear. We also use an Engineaire pre cleaner on our 140hp+engines. Good unit - has a rotating fan internally to eject dust.

Cheers

Yeah, they look real good!

You reckon they make one that'll swap out the hat? Be good if it does, just slide off the pre-cleaner I have now and slide that sucker on.

As far as I can work it out, the KUBOTA diesel 33HP on the Red Roo SP4012 has a Donaldson air cleaner, FPG model (part G057511) using filters P821575 (main) and P822858 (secondary).

Donaldson make a 'Top Spin' propeller/centrifical pre-cleaner that mounts directly onto the FPG in place of the present top hat type.

The Top spin part no. is H002434.

Have had this on order locally for about $125.00 for several months but no sign of it so far.

About to try another supplier, or track it down in US.

EKKA, they probably have a model to suit yr. machines air cleaner.

I have no experience with them, but at this money they are worth a try to get a longer life out of the main air filters.

Must check with Red Roo and/or Kubota to see that the Top spin doesn't affect warranty.

Hi Redroo, that Sy-Klone looks OK, so does the Donaldson Top Spin that Bill24 mentioned.

I've been running the Oblan for a few years now and have found them very good, all metal. Have you tried them?

Here's a video, mine is this one, but they have quite a range.

That Oblan looks well built/solid and efficient in the vid. DONE IT.

What is it running on, do you recollect price, how much does it extend air filter life, ?

Donaldson hasn't come to the party in the couple months I've had the pre cleaner ordered.

Will look into the Oblan and Red Roo's Sy-clone.

(Maybe he needs a guinea pig to trial the Sy-clone.....)

Q. Red Roo, will the fitting of one of these pre cleaners, with suitable specs. for the Kubota 33HP, affect warranty?

Good info this thread, thanks.

That one is on a 25hp Kohler, about $160 but worth it, but the Donaldson looks good.

You have to have the right dealer with Donaldson otherwise you get messed around.

I may as well tell everyone now, I checked the price you got, $125, not bad, but you'll get it here: Air Filters, Filter Cleaning Services - Western Filters offer a range of Filter products for comprehensive coverage for on-highway, off-highway, construction, agricultural, industrial, genset, lift trucks and marine equipment. - www.westernfilters.co for $121 plus postage & have it in 2/3 days.

Thanks Done It, I'll follow up with them if I don't hear from RR.

Wondering what you reckon the life of the air cleaner filter is extended by?

My filters are around $27, wouldn't take long to cut that out with an efficient pre cleaner!
