If you only have that hat, you won't believe the difference. The bowls work well but I've found the Oblan a lot better & you don't have to keep emptying it. |

The top spins work a treat IMO

OK - I have seen the Sy-clone in the flesh and been able to have a quick chat about it with the engine boys. The unit is designed for trucks / off road machinery engines etc and has a 3" inlet/outlet to the filter housing. There are reducers available, but none in country at this time. We've ordered a couple, but as to delivery I do not have a firm date. In the interim, we have fitted a rubber boot reducer to mount it to the air cleaner on our newest grinder - the SMB2750, powered by a 47hp Yanmar diesel. It will make its debut at Arbor Camp as well if yall are in the area. As for warranty, I have calls into the engine reps to see what the official line is regarding fitment. I my own opinion, I don't believe it will / should be an issue. When we first started with the Briggs & Stratton V-twin Vanguards, we developed a fully approved Donaldson system for the 16hp that is still in use today on our SG350 series and SH400 grinders.

Thanks RR for your reply, will await answer re Donaldson 'top spin'. The 'top spin' mounts direct onto air cleaner and replaces the 'hat' and as no adaptor required, as far as I can see, I will go that way if warranty not effected. A Lopa reckons they are good value, so hope RR yr. reply is in the affirmative. Thanks AL for that feedback. The new 20mm cutter teeth suitable for the 4012 have got to be a good move by RR, only 1mm bigger diameter over the previous series 700 red teeth, but should give pocket better protection. Havn't tried them out yet but keen to. Some 4012's in UK are running 900 and 1100 cutter teeth. They report good results. Not a direction for a new machine under warranty to go though. Lot of good info on this subject, appreciate it!! Bill24. Last edited by bill24; 24th September 2008 at 06:49 AM. Reason: edit tooth measurement. |

![]() and again... ![]() Working very well at the moment - I might even have an opportunity to open it up and take a couple more pics - my guess is that it will be similar to an EngineAire precleaner.
