Default Rayco 1625 belt tension

Hi all,

I have just scored myself a brand new second hand Rayco 1625. It has just had the electric clutch replaced prior to me buying it however the primary drive belt seems way to tight. Both bearings are heating up after minutes of running.

Does anyone have a good method of tensioning the primary belts

PS. I dont have any manuals with tensioning specs only the operators manual which doesnt tell me much

Should be just able to push down on the belt,If that makes sence.Losen it up if it slips stop straight away and tighten till its right.

If you do the other belt on the cutter wheel replace it with 3 cog fanbelt type pulleys and 3 kevlar fan belts.

There a good grinder

It pushes down about 8mm with 2kg in the centre of the belt between the wheels. This seems to follow the general rule of thumb as far as a mechanic mate reckons.

Happy with the machine for a 2nd hand fixerupperer. It took a while to find something within my price range. The other option was a 252 which had less hous but i was dubious about the whole unit. It looked very knocked about. Also the vermeer sales guys couldnt have tried harder not to get my business. I cant see me going near them for a very long time. The Bandit and Rayco guys are really helpful

You really only want the cheap finger type teeth on that machine.
