Default Rate this stump grinder

Just found this stump grinder on ebay.

Does anybody have any experience with them?

The price is right.

It looks in good condition.
(maybe for a reason)

Geday PLAYFORDTREE,

Saw that machine, Googled it, might be German, looks like its done very little work.

Is very cheap if well designed, and Germans usually do.

Bill24.

G'day bill,

i'm wondering why its so cheap and in such good condition?
Maybe it's useless?

It has an 11hp Honda, nothing special but ok.
Your right about the Germans, they know their machinery.

My hunch is coz it's gutless and Germany doesn't have too many hard woods like eucs. You'd possibly breeze thru poplar all day long.

Next negative is it's a wheel along not self propelled.

Smallest engine one I have used was 18hp Stump Humper, good machine. I had a 20hp Dosko that went good too, so does the RG20, I feel 11hp is getting to low in grunt.

I don't know about the name but it's like the one I sold last year, a Dosko really but RedRoo copied them. Mine was 13hp but you can put any size motor on them, but they are push type so bigger motor, more push. They work ok.

I guess you could upgrade the engine to a larger HP.
not sure what that would cost though?

As for the "Push along versus Self propelled" debate.
Ekka i suggest you sell me your Kanga and your homebrew setup.
(cheaply mind you)
Then go and get yourself a push along grinder.
I've been watching your latest videos and your getting fatter than i am ya bastid!

i ve got a 13hp rayco very similar to this i love it esp if you need to get in small spaces ( through houses) will grind happily down 200mm hardwoods arent a problem with sharp teeth as with most things it s about using sharp tools. advantage of these is 2 men can pick it up and put it on the back of a truck so you can tow a chipper and take the grinder too. not sure about the jockey wheel on the front though

It was package deal sale but this one sold on Ebay about the same time in Brisbane for about $1700, Dosko still make them. I had another look & that is more like a Redroo, they aren't as heavy duty. I only used it for narrow axcess jobs, I could get thru 26" with the narrow wheels. 11hp would be a bit too slow I think.

Our 13hp just gets through the biggest of stumps.. We use it for everything.

The 11hp I guess wouldn't be bad for palm stumps and the softwoods especially for $1000 bucks.

Wtf with that jockey wheel at the front though... That thing would be a mega pain in the ass while transporting it.

Would that model NOT have a clutch on it? I agree with johN D, it would upset the balance and add about 5 lbs to the nose.

That engine is a GX340 11hp, ours is a GX390 13hp. Ours has a clutch on it, it is centrifugal. Very handy when backfilling and manouvering. Only need a little latch or something to hold the deadman so it can be unattended... Gotta look at the OHS responsibilities before that though..

I meant the Dosko type, not the Rayco. If you had ever used one you would agree. And they don't have a clutch.

There's a few guys like that. I had the 13hp I was talking about & a 20hp for a while, didn't like them. Have you ever seen a Stump Master? A friend of mine "invented?" them. He retired last year, now Redroo are selling them under their name, SHP400 http://www.redroo.com.au/stumpgrinders.htm

Merry Mac Walk-Behind Portable Stump Cutter/Grinder — 10 HP, Model# CPSC102ICM | Chipper/Shredders | Northern Tool + Equipment - Click Images then click the video.

Hey, I found another one... This one is a stump cutter. Complete different design. It looks effective, but I am aware that that is a softwood stump. Not to sure bout the cutter being that close aswell though, alota nut shots could be taken...

Anyone else ever use one of these?

The grinder ended up being sold for $2,755.
Price jumped up $1600 in the last few hours of the auction.

I was still umming and ahhing whether to bid or not, but once it went past $1,500 i was out.

Good luck to the buyer.

Was it anyone from Treeworld?

Praxis have been around a while, they make the Vermeer SC130, 13hp, and the Husqvarna 13hp is really a Bluebird. The cutter wheel on the Praxis/Vermeer comes in 4 pieces, so you can't change just 1 tooth, stupid idea I reckon, & I told them. Rayco make the best 13hp, no doubt & there's a few types out there. I can't get the direct link to work but this is their home page, go to products/services and you'll see them. :eatdrink009http://www.uspraxis.com/

Great machine, the turn around handle lets you go grind anywhere, a mate has one.
