Default Portawrap Inventor

Does anyone know who invented the Portawrap or developed the idea to apply it to Treework?

I have been told it was a guy called Scott Prophett.

I'm pretty sure Scott Prophett was the co-inventor but I'll chase it up.

A friend was telling me there is a couple of paragraphs about Scott Prophett and the portawrap in Don Blair's Arborist's Equipment.

Does anyone have this book?

If so, what does it say?

My understanding is that its accepted there were co-inventors Norm Hall, and Scott Prophett, now whether they were working on it together or in different locations I don't know.

Thanks TreeCo,

I think I will be Buying 'Aborist's Equipment'

I been doing some of my own investigating and it turns out that Scott Prophett use to work for the Care of Trees in Alexandria, Virginia.

The really strange thing is I worked there 2001/2002 and nobody mentioned this story or even that Scott Prophett used to work there!!??

Well, I suppose we were very busy. Not much time for arb history lessons.

He was obviously there a few years before me.

I have since found out also that Scott P is widely respected in the Arb Industry.

I believe he is based now in Atlanta?

My main point in starting this thread was to find out who invented the Portawrap Thanks to Scott and Norm for this excellent tool.

I like the Portawrap 1 design.

Now using the Portawrap 2, anyone know who invented that design?

Scott P. lives about 25 miles from us. He's just a little N/E of Atlanta.

Very common mis-understanding that Scott P helped design the porty. Norm Hall has attested to me and it was verified by tod Kramer that it was actually a cooperative effort between Stormin' Norman and none other than.........Jasper T. Cornfield.

That is interesting info Mangoes. I was just passing along a section from a book and have no idea of the inventor. I do love my two Port-a-Wraps. It is an excellent friction device.

So Don Blair is wrong?

Scott P had nothing to do with the original portawrap?

Who came up with the latest portawrap design?

Negative; ISA Art & Science vids have some outtakes at the end, where Jasper introduces himself. Outtakes also spawned the rakemaster challenge.
