Default Pheonix palms

Ok wide world which ones of yous prunes pheonix canariensis. How do you climb them and how do you prune them. Does any one finish by a poncey decoration like me or do most of you get up and down to cut the fronds without getting stabbed.

Get used to it, I try to be as carefull as possible but still get stabbed on a regular basis. I avoid those dirty nasty rats nests of a palm whenever possible.

I had a very nasty experience with one once, a fron slid down the pole saw I was using and got me in the gut. Leaving a spike in my abdomen, no doctor could get it out, until I had to be given a general anaesthetic and operated on to get it out.
I never look at Date palms in the same way anymore.

You'd be best off with the old rope over the head and up you go.

Bloody terrible job, best out of a tower.
